Trade Binders / Guide

How to use the trade bot

Everything the bot does is a slash command: type / in a Discord channel and its commands pop up with a short description of each. This page explains them in more detail.

Before you start: the bot has to be in your Discord server. It's invite only for now, so if you don't see its commands when you type /, ask in our Discord. It always shows as offline, which is normal: it only wakes up when someone runs a command.

Quick start

  1. 1

    Add your cards

In any channel the bot can see, type /binder add and press Enter. A box opens: paste your list, or attach a CSV from Moxfield, Archidekt or ManaBox.

  2. 2

    Look for a card

Type /find and start typing a card name. You'll see who in the server has one. Only you can see the result.

  3. 3

Watch for the ones you need

/wishlist add and the bot DMs you when anyone lists one.

Prefer a spreadsheet-style view? Open your binder on the website and sign in with Discord. It's the same binder, so changes show up in the bot straight away.

Getting your cards in

/binder add with no options opens a box. Paste a list, or attach a CSV export.

Counts work before or after the name, so 4 Lightning Bolt and Lightning Bolt x4 both read fine.

Where each site hides its export:

  • Moxfield binder, then More (⋯), then Export
  • Archidekt deck, then Export, then CSV
  • ManaBox Collection, then ⋯, then Export

A CSV also carries condition, language, foil and notes. Re-importing the same file never doubles your binder, it sets quantities to match.

Adding one card

/binder add item: printing:

Both autocomplete. The printing list includes each finish separately, so you pick the exact physical card and a $2 reprint never gets confused with a $400 original.

Sealed too. Booster boxes, packs, bundles, Secret Lairs and precons are in the same item: box, marked 📦. Pick one and there's no printing to choose.

Optional: condition: quantity: price: notes: trade:

Trading and selling

Everything you add is for trade by default. There's no separate sale list.

  • Add a price: and it's for sale too. Free text, so 90% TCG low, $5 or trade and make me an offer all work.
  • trade:false makes a card sale only.
  • /binder settings note: sets one policy for the whole binder, like Sell anything at 90% TCG low. It shows on any card without its own price.

The bot never handles money. It puts you in touch and gets out of the way.

Finding cards

/find item: shows who in this server has one, with condition, terms and any notes. Sealed product too.

Only you see the result and it skips your own cards. Press Post to channel to ask everyone.

Tap someone's name to open their profile and message them. Searching never pings anybody.

Wishlists

/wishlist add on its own to paste a list of names, or item: for one.

The bot DMs you the moment anyone lists it, and says which server it turned up in.

Anything you leave blank means any, so printing: finish: and condition: narrow it only if you care. Add a card someone already has and the bot tells you straight away.

Or use the website

www.mtgtools.io/trade — sign in with Discord. If you already have an account on the site it links to that one rather than making a second.

It's better than chat for anything bulk:

  • Select forty cards and set their condition or price in one go
  • Sort and filter your binder, hover a card name to see the art
  • Add cards by pasting, uploading a CSV, or dropping in an Archidekt deck link
  • Your wishlist shows who has each card and in which server
  • Server owners can set the alerts channel and command channel there too

Everything stays in sync: it's the same binder either way.

Fixing things

/binder list browses page by page and has an Export CSV button.

/binder update listing: changes the printing, quantity, condition, price, note or trade status. Type none in a price or note to clear it.

/binder remove listing: drops a card, or part of a stack with quantity:.

/binder settings visibility: hides your binder from search without deleting it, for when you've sold up or you're taking a break.

Export, edit in a spreadsheet, then /binder add file: is the quickest way to change a lot at once.

Every command

Every option each command takes. When you type a command in Discord, press Tab or click to fill in its options.
